The Alfie Gough Trust

In memory of Alfie Gough, who passed away peacefully.

He was where he wanted to be – at home in bed, cuddled up close to his Mummy and Daddy on 29th July, 2010.

Alfie touched the hearts of many people, schools and businesses and the huge response to the appeal and the events have shown that the community spirit is stronger than ever.

We took great strength from the overwhelming support and response. Our aim is to provide support for other children with Cancer. Alfie's name will live on.

Our Vision

To improve the quality of life for children with Cancer .
From the support we were lucky enough to receive, whilst it never cured Alfie, it gave him a fantastic quality of life.
The side effects of the chemotherapy were barely noticeable. He had no hair of course, but he gained weight on treatment and he never suffered from any of the symptoms that we were warned about and plagued so many other children in the same situation. We are convinced that this was due to the approach of complementary support strategies we had implemented for Alfie.

Our Mission

Help other families have access to and understand strategies to support wellness during intense treatment. We fund a complementary therapy nurse specialist A dedicated room is available for this at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The aim is to alleviate the symptoms of illness and treatment , while also helping with anxiety, fear, stress management and sleeping problems. Monies have been raised through donation and events hosted by The Alfie Gough in the spirit of Alfie; Fun, happy and family-focused, giving something back and contributing to community.

We have no salaries or expenses claimed from trustees and all outgoings are for development of funds to achieve our objectives.

Making Christmas Magical at G.O.S.H

Since 2010, we have completed our initiative by delivering Christmas toys and gifts to Great Ormond Street Hospital. After spending Christmas as a family on the ward in 2009 with Alfie we unfortunately learned first hand that this was to be our last Christmas together.

We understand many more families will be faced with this situation.

This inspired us to dedicate one of the charity objectives to ensure that every Christmas is extra special for those on the oncology ward.
