Recipe Book Pre-Launch:

The Appeal4Alfie campaign launched their charity cookbook on 12th January 2011.

The book, called 'Recipes 4 Life: Fighting Back With Food' was pre-launched at Thanet College and offers specially designed recipes for people having cancer treatment.
It has attracted contributions from celebrity chef Gary Rhodes and a foreword by cricketer Ian Botham.

The Appeal4Alfie teamed up with nutritional therapy consultants Nutrition Mission to produce the book. The recipes which feature in the book are those used by Dean and Sarah when Alfie's chemotherapy meant his diet became very restrictive. Dean said: "Thanks to good nutrition Alfie had a much better quality of life during his treatment." Jo Gamble from Nutrition Mission designed the recipes in the book. Jo says the recipes are suitable for a diet that restricts foods that could be harmful to recovery, such as sugar and dairy, and includes such healthy alternatives as organic food and complex grains. She said: "There is not one condition out there we can't make a difference to with diet change. It is that powerful." Among its tailor-made recipes,
the book includes a recipe by Thanet College aluminus Gary Rhodes and a foreword from cricketer Ian Botham, who met Alfie during a charity appeal last year. Mr Botham also agreed that one recipe, the "Beefy" burger, be named after him.

Sarah and Dean hope the recipe book will be in print by spring.
