Christmas Gifts for Children at GOSH:
After personal experience of spending all of last Christmas on the ward with Alfie, We wanted to ensure that the brave children who will be spending Christmas this year in Hospital still enjoyed the magic of the Christmas morning.
The Alfie Gough Trust donated £250.00 and then looked for a local sponsor who could match the donation. The ASDA Community involvement team in Broadstairs were touched by Alfie's story and the work of Alfie's appeal and they proposed the idea of an in store Raffle to raise the money. They donated the main prize and the event took place on Monday 6th December 2010.
The raffle raised £751.90 we were also then given a single donation of £100 pounds. So combined total with the donation from the appeal was £1,151.90 to spend on Christmas presents. During the event we were approached by a Margate business which made a single donation of £500.00 pounds towards the Childrens Ward. The winner of the Raffle was a Mrs Dunn from Birchington.
We will be spending all of the Funds raised in Asda on Christmas Gifts, as we now have more than enough for presents. We plan one main purchase of 8 portable DVD players, complete with a whole collection of DVD's for the ward - these can then be loaned to children during the time they have to spend on the wards.
